Parental Problem Substance Use and its Impact on Children: Skills & Awareness for practitioners This workshop is for front-line workers to explore the impact that problem substance use has on families, on parenting and on children. Topics covered include; basic drug awareness, the effect of drug use on adults, the impact of parental drug use on children and young people, how children of different ages are affected, and creative therapeutic tools for working with these families. Be a 'Good Enough' Parent This workshop is for parents to explore the effects their using may have had on their families, to learn more about their children's practical/emotional needs, and therefore how to better meet them. The workshop also provides individuals with the opportunity of sharing their experiences of parenting with others, and to get support and advice. Topics covered include; the impact of parental problem substance use on children, how children of different ages are affected, the concept of 'Good Enough' parenting, boundaries, discipline, and using play as a means of communication.
